The Aerobús service has been registered with the European EMAS scheme, one of the most rigorous environmental management systems in the European Union. Aerobús, the shuttle bus service connecting Barcelona Airport with the city centre, has been awarded EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) registration, an official European Union recognition that certifies excellence in environmental management.
The certificate has been awarded by the Department of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition of the Government of Catalonia, and certifies that its environmental management system complies with the requirements set out in Regulation (EC) No 1221/2009 of the European Parliament.
A genuine commitment to more sustainable mobility
The EMAS scheme is a voluntary European Union tool that recognises organisations which go beyond legal compliance in environmental matters by implementing policies of continuous improvement, transparency and regular assessment of their environmental impact. Obtaining EMAS certification marks a further step forward in Aerobús’s sustainability strategy, which focuses on providing transport that:
- More efficient and environmentally friendly
- Tailored to today’s mobility needs
- Committed to reducing our environmental impact
This recognition reinforces Aerobús’s position as a responsible transport option, helping to reduce emissions and promoting a more sustainable model of mobility in the Barcelona metropolitan area.
