Where to eat calçots in Barcelona?

Calçots

During the months of January to April, Catalans go crazy for calçotadas and one of the most common weekend plans is to meet up to eat calçots. In Barcelona, there are many restaurants that offer a menu for you to enjoy this Catalan tradition.

If you still don’t know what calçots are, you can visit the blog post of Season of calçots where we explain it in detail. At Aerobús, we want to share with you different places worth trying:

  • Petit Hípica

Calçots

In the mountain of Montuïc, next to the equestrian centre, you will find this restaurant. It’s quite a rustic place, with a terrace next to the horses (ideal for large groups or children). In season, they offer a very complete calçotada menu (40 €): first course, calçots and farmhouse bread as desired, and the expected main course of meat, with a choice of entrecote, parrillada, half a grilled chicken or secreto ibérico (there’s also a vegan option). Desserts: carrot or chocolate cake, or sorbet (and a glass of wine for every three people).

  • Can Cortada

It’s a beautiful 11th-century farmhouse in the Horta neighbourhood, listed as one of the city’s artistic heritage sites. You have the menu for 48.90 euros, which opens with coca del Maresme toasted with tomato and olive oil, followed – needless to say – by calçots, 20 per person, a barbecue of meat (generous, with chicken, chistorra, black pudding, grilled lamb and butifarra de la Garriga, with beans and jacket potato), wine and dessert. To finish the meal, crema catalana. Coffee and tea are included.

  • Carmen restaurant

At Carmen you can enjoy a very complete calçotada for 35,90 euros. The menu includes a slice of calçots, toasted bread with tomato, aioli and, of course, Carmen’s famous romesco. For the main course there is grilled meat accompanied by potatoes with caliu, fried potatoes and beans. To round off the meal, there are homemade desserts and coffee and drinks are included.

Come and try them, feel like a real Catalan. Remember that Aerobús runs 24 hours a day, every day of the year. You can buy your ticket here.
