Every spring, Barcelona is transformed into a scene from another era thanks to the Barcelona–Sitges International Vintage Car Rally, one of the most elegant and unique events on the city’s cultural calendar.
It is not a speed race, but rather a moving historical parade where authentic motor racing gems travel along the Catalan coast until they reach Sitges.
What is the rally all about?
The event brings together vehicles manufactured up to 1928 (cars) and up to 1938 (motorcycles). Each piece is a carefully preserved work of classic engineering, many of them authentic collector’s treasures.
The experience begins with a preview exhibition in the centre of Barcelona, traditionally held in Plaça de Sant Jaume, where visitors can admire the details of each vehicle before the official departure.
The route: from Barcelona to the Garraf coast
After the starting gun, participants run:
- Iconic streets in the city centre
- Panoramic stretches by the sea
- The historic Garraf road
The rally ends in Sitges, where the cars are once again displayed on the seafront promenade in a festive and highly photogenic setting.
Vintage fashion and elegance
One of the great attractions of the rally is that drivers and co-drivers wear clothing appropriate to the year of manufacture of the vehicle. Hats, long dresses, gloves and classic suits turn the event into an authentic scene from the early 20th century.
It is undoubtedly a perfect plan for lovers of motoring, history, photography and unique experiences.
A different plan for spring
Watching the start in Barcelona allows you to enjoy the vehicles up close and capture unique images. Afterwards, you can take the opportunity to stroll around the city centre or even head to Sitges and end the day by the sea.
An ideal combination of culture, tradition and the outdoors.
