Sant Jordi’s Day in Barcelona

Like every year, today, April 23, at Aerobús we celebrate Sant Jordi (Saint George’s Day). For Catalans, it may be the most beautiful day of the year, since it is a popular holiday that celebrates love. You could say that it is Catalonia’s Valentine’s Day.

The tradition of this day is that men give a red rose to their beloved, and women give a book to their loved one. It must be said that this custom has changed as the years have passed, we can say that we have modernized, since today, men also give books to women, and the color of roses is not only red, there are all colors.

It is a very nice day to walk through the city of Barcelona, since many of the main streets such as Paseo de Gracia, Las Ramblas, are filled with stalls where they sell roses and books. Additionally, at many of the stops, book stores or shopping centers, there are writers and illustrators who are signing books.

Instagramer TIP: if you are walking along Paseo de Gracia, you cannot miss how they decorate the balconies of the Casa Batlló building with roses, take a photo!
