Now that the heat is fully noticeable, it’s the perfect time to try new sports and cool off at the same time, so…. What better option than practising water sports?

Keeping active during the summer is complicated by the high temperatures, but it is still important to maintain good habits and daily activity. For this reason, the best way to exercise in summer is through activities that involve water so that we can cool down at all times, without suffering too much heat.

During the months of this season it is a good option to do water sports. Here is a list of a few that you can try, or even train regularly.

Surf

This is one of the most popular and long-standing water activities, which consists of gliding through the waves while standing on a board. If you are a person who has a lot of balance and great technical skills and reflexes, it won’t be difficult to get the hang of it, but it is difficult to practise without previous training. Nowadays, there are several surf schools, and with just a few sessions, you can get started in this sport.

Windsurf

The evolutionary sport of traditional surfing in which you surf using a board with a sail, held by a horizontal bar. In order to practise it, wind and wave conditions are required.

As in surfing, it is also necessary to have balance, along with strength and endurance for this practice. Previous training is necessary for this aquatic activity, as we need to have absolute control of the wind and waves to be able to move around windsurfing.

Water skiing

This activity has been popular since the 1950s, and consists of putting on skis and gliding across the water, propelled by a motorboat to which we are attached by a rope. In the case of this sport, there are different types of skis or boards to be able to glide over the water and reach high speeds.

Water skiing is like snow skiing, but in water. It helps to train the trunk, arms and legs.

Kayak

This sport exercises the whole body, as you have to keep your balance, as well as support the oar and move it, working both the trunk and legs, as well as the upper body: biceps, triceps, back, and more.

It is the perfect option for observing new landscapes, discovering new fauna and flora, as well as exploring the waters around us while practising this sport.

This sport, which has been gaining popularity over the years, is relatively easy to do for people of all ages, from young to old. Paddle surfing consists of standing on a board and paddling to move through the water.

Although it seems to be a calmer activity than the others, it also has its touch of complication, but it is nothing that prevents you from doing it, as it is only necessary to have balance and to be concentrated in order to gain confidence and stability little by little.

Nowadays, there are group paddle surfing trips along the coast, and thanks to paddle surfing you can even enjoy sunsets in the water and on the board.
