Typical Christmas soup in Catalonia

Galets soup is the dish that dresses Catalan tables for Christmas. A comforting, delicious and traditional recipe that is passed down from generation to generation. Filling the galets does not require difficulty, for this reason, this dish is perfect to prepare as a family.

The most special thing about Christmas is being able to meet with our loved ones and taste traditional dishes of our cuisine that can vary from one region to another. In Catalonia, it is essential to make the galets soup, the escudella i carn d’olla and the delicious Sant Esteve cannelloni that are made with leftovers from the aforementioned recipes.

For this reason, at Aerobús we want to explain to you what galets soup is all about. It is a broth, made of vegetables, legumes, chicken, meat and potatoes, among other ingredients, two main ingredients are usually added:

Galets (also called sharks), a giant snail-shaped pasta that is cooked once the soup is made.

The pilota, a kind of meatball made of minced meat, egg, breadcrumbs and parsley. It can be cooked in the same galets or cooked separately.

💡 Recommendation:

In this type of dishes we take advantage of all the leftover meat and ingredients, and with this we can eat the remains, which we call escudella and carn d’olla. It could perfectly serve as a second course during Christmas meals.

We hope you enjoy Christmas a lot and remember that, if you travel to Barcelona airport, the Aerobús operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Buy your ticket online and get ready to hug your loved ones and celebrate the holidays in style.
